Description
Women's shirt 'stanok' (to the waist). Straight silhouette, made from two panels, with a 15 cm coarser fabric attached at the bottom. The sleeve is long, wide, with an insert sewn along the warp, with a gusset, gathered at the bottom into small folds, and finished with a 0.5 cm wide trim. The body and inserts are gathered at the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round, with a 28.5 cm slit at the center front, fastened with a button. The inserts, sleeves, and neckline trim are decorated with embroidery in red and black floss threads, executed in the techniques of 'kachalochkova lyshtva,' 'shtapivka,' 'lyshtva,' 'cross-stitch,' 'double cross-stitch,' and 'stem stitch.' The sleeves and inserts feature two wide horizontal pattern bands consisting of diamonds and half-diamonds. Stylized geometric four-petal flowers are inscribed within the diamonds and half-diamonds, and the same flowers form the outline of this pattern. Provenance: The shirt belonged to Sotnikova Amalia Serhiivna, who lived in Kharkiv.
