About
“Sloboda Ukraine Code: Ukrainian Embroidery” is a cultural and educational project implemented by the NGO CLIO HUB with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
The goal of the project is to popularize traditional Sloboda Ukraine embroidery as an essential part of Ukrainian cultural heritage. For the first time, a unique collection of embroidered towels, shirts, and household items from the M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum will be digitized and made accessible to the public.
The project will produce a digital multimedia catalog and a virtual 3D exhibition. These materials will be freely available online via a dedicated website, making the heritage accessible from anywhere in the world.
This initiative is especially important for the people of Sloboda Ukraine, internally displaced persons, researchers, educators, artists, and the Ukrainian diaspora. It aims to preserve national identity, promote understanding of Ukraine's cultural diversity, and inspire modern design rooted in tradition.
The project team includes experts in ethnology, museum studies, digital technology, and design. The Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library is an official partner of the project.
“Sloboda Ukraine Code” is a bridge between past and future — a new perspective on embroidery as a cultural code preserved in digital form.
