Description
Straight-cut 'do pidtochky' shirt. The body and lower part are sewn from two parts each. The lower part is gathered with small pleats at varying distances. The sleeve is tapered at the bottom, with a gusset and insert sewn along the weft, hemmed at the bottom, and decorated at the top with 'pukhlyky' (22 cm long) in three rows. The body and inserts are gathered near the neckline into fine pleats using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a central front slit (29 cm long), finished with a fold-down collar with two slit buttonholes at the edges for a tie. The slit is secured at the bottom with a 'gorodky' openwork seam. The lower part of the insert is decorated with a row of 'prutyk' openwork stitch, above which is a horizontal stripe of floral-geometric pattern (broken branch with leaves and extensions) made with gray threads.
Legend: Sewn and embroidered by Motrona Dmytrivna Roslyakova, a wealthy peasant, mother of Hanna Stepanivna Soldatova, who donated the shirt to the museum.
