Description
Women's 'do pidtochky' shirt. The body is sewn from fine hemp canvas, the lower part from coarse canvas. Both parts are cut across the fabric and made from a single panel each. The sleeve is long, straight, with an insert and gusset, sewn along the weft, gathered at the bottom with a thread into fine pleats, and finished with a cuff. The cuff ends have two slit buttonholes and two white buttons. The sleeve is attached to the insert with a 'vystih' stitch and an openwork seam, decorated with 'pukhlyky.' The body and inserts are densely gathered near the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is oval with a central slit, finished with a hem stitched with a triple 'vystih' stitch. The armhole fastens with a white button. The sleeves, inserts, and cuffs are embroidered with red and black woolen threads in floral and geometric patterns using the 'cross-stitch' technique. The insert has a horizontal stripe (6.5 cm wide) of roses (rosa centifolia) and leaves connected by a wavy line. Below, the sleeve features scattered ornamental motifs from the insert (a branch with two roses, a bud, and three leaves). The cuffs are decorated with a zigzag line of triple cross-stitches, a garland of roses, and teeth.
