Description
Shirt with a straight silhouette 'to the hem.' The bodice and hem are sewn from six panels of homemade canvas. The sleeve is straight with a gusset and inset sewn along the weft, gathered at the bottom into small folds, on a narrow cuff (0.5 cm wide) decorated with a double overcast stitch. The bodice and insets are gathered near the neckline into dense gathers using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is oval, with a central slit on the front, finished with a narrow cuff sewn with a double overcast stitch. At the ends of the cuff, there are two slit loops for a ribbon. The insets and sleeves are embroidered in 'white on white' with hand-spun bleached linen threads using the techniques of straight satin stitch and cutting in geometric and geometric-floral patterns. On the inset and upper part of the sleeve, a horizontal stripe of a pattern in the form of a broken branch with geometric four-petaled flowers and leaflets attached at an angle, rhythmically repeated. In the upper part of the sleeve, a pattern of diamonds and half-diamonds, framed by outlines. Along the sleeve, seven vertical stripes of geometric-floral pattern repeat the inset's design. The hem is decorated with two parallel stripes of openwork with overlay (1 cm and 4 cm wide). On the second openwork, a winding branch with leaflets and flowers is embroidered. The openwork is made with homemade bleached and gray-dyed threads.
