Description
Shirt with a straight silhouette 'to the hem,' the bodice and hem sewn from six panels. The sleeve is three-quarters length, narrowed at the bottom, straight, with an inset sewn along the weft, hemmed with a single overcast stitch and a stripe of 'single prutyk.' The sleeve and inset on the back side are sewn with a double overcast stitch. The bodice and insets are gathered near the neckline into small folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is 'kareshaped' with a central slit on the front, finished with a narrow cuff with a triple overcast stitch and a buttonhole loop on the right side of the cuff. The shirt is decorated with embroidered black-and-red floral pattern. On the inset — a horizontal stripe: strawberries with branches, leaves, and tendrils. On the sleeve — a scattering of ornamental motifs of the same character: strawberry branches, but with larger berries. The hem is decorated with a stripe of embroidery in the form of a broken line with triangles at the vertices of the corners and black dots between them. Legend: Discovered during an ethnographic expedition by the Kharkiv Historical Museum.
