Description
Shirt with a straight silhouette 'to the hem.' The upper part is sewn from finer canvas, the lower from coarser canvas. The bodice and hem are sewn from six panels. The sleeve is straight with a gusset and inset sewn along the warp, gathered at the bottom into small folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique, on a narrow cuff with a double overcast stitch, decorated at the top with 'puffy' gathers (9 cm long). The sleeve and inset are sewn with a double overcast stitch. The bodice and inset are gathered near the neckline into small folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is oval, with a central slit on the front, finished with a narrow cuff with a triple overcast stitch and two slit loops on both sides of the cuff. The cuff near the loops is decorated with 'obmetytsia' (plakhtove finishing) in red threads (6 cm on each side of the cuff). The shirt is decorated with embroidered black-and-red floral pattern. On the inset, a narrow stripe of a pattern with stylized flowers with branches and leaves in the form of crosses and circles (1 cm wide), above it — a stripe of embroidery with roses with branches, leaves, and buds. On the sleeve — a scattering of roses with branches and leaves. The connecting seams of the shirt end near the hem with a lace-like stitch type 'horodky' (5 cm). The hem is hemmed with a 'single column.' Legend: Found during an ethnographic expedition by the Kharkiv Historical Museum.
