Description

Shirt 'dodіlna.' Sewn from three panels. Straight silhouette. The sleeve is straight, with a gusset and inset sewn along the weft, gathered at the bottom on a narrow cuff sewn with a single overcast stitch. The sleeve and inset on the back side are sewn with a double overcast stitch, gathered near the neckline into small folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is rectangular — kareshaped, with a central slit on the front, finished with a narrow cuff decorated with a double overcast stitch. At the ends of the cuff, there are two buttonhole loops for a ribbon. The shirt is embroidered with bleached linen threads with a slight inclusion of red woolen thread using the techniques of straight satin stitch, surface stitching, and stem stitch. Geometric pattern. In the lower part of the inset and on the hem, a narrow horizontal stripe of a pattern (zigzag line with small diamonds in the recesses). In the upper part of the sleeve, a wide horizontal stripe is composed of diamonds with extensions, framed by thin stripes of geometric pattern (small rectangles). The sleeve field has a scattering of diamonds with extensions in the form of swastika signs in a checkerboard pattern. Legend: The canvas was woven, and the shirt was sewn and embroidered by Ksenia Mefodiivna Bondarenko, and it belonged to her sister Motrona Mefodiivna Bondarenko-Mykhailovska. According to Motrona Mefodiivna's will, the shirt was donated to the museum.
