Description
Shirt 'to the hem' made of bleached hemp canvas, sewn from six parts. The bodice is from finer canvas, the hem from coarser canvas. Straight silhouette. The sleeve is made of two panels, with an inset, sewn along the warp, with a gusset, decorated with 'puffy' gathers, gathered at the bottom, with a cuff. The cuffs have two slit loops for buttons, with a white button on the right. The bodice and insets are gathered near the neckline. The neckline is round, with a central slit and two slit loops for a ribbon, finished with a narrow cuff. The insets, sleeves, and cuffs are embroidered with red and black woolen thread using the cross-stitch technique in a floral pattern. The inset features a horizontal stripe with roses (Rosa centifolia) connected by leaflets. The rose pattern is framed by a thin stripe of stylized flowers and leaflets. The sleeves and cuffs feature a composition of roses. The hem and chest are decorated with openwork, framed on both sides by a broken line embroidered with red and black woolen thread using the backstitch technique. Legend: From the collection of the Museum of Sloboda Ukraine named after H.S. Skovoroda.
