Description
Rushnyk made from white calico, with edges decorated with two narrow and one wide band of openwork featuring a stylized floral ornament (flowers and leaves), and white lace at the ends. In one corner, the letters 'MК' are embroidered in red threads. Provenance: The rushnyk belonged to Olena Valentynivna Korotkova (maiden name Morozova), who descends from the Kudashev princely family. The Kudashev family has been known since the early 17th century. Princess Olha Yevhenivna Kudasheva (Morozova) was the daughter of Prince Yevhen Oleksandrovych, an honorary justice of the peace of the Sumy district; granddaughter of Prince Oleksandr Volodymyrovych, a major general and landowner in Khorol County, Poltava Governorate (as of 1898); and niece of Princess Yuliya Oleksandrivna, wife of Professor L.L. Hirshman; she was the grandmother of Olena Valentynivna Korotkova.
