Description
Shirt 'to the hem.' The bodice and hem are sewn from coarse grayish hemp canvas from six parts. The sleeve is one-piece, sewn along the warp, narrowed at the bottom, three-quarters length, with a gusset and a wide cuff (7.6 cm). The sleeve is attached to the bodice with a single overcast stitch. The bodice and upper part of the sleeves are densely gathered near the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is oval, with a central slit (28.5 cm), finished with a cuff. The cuff is sewn with an overcast stitch. On the shoulder, a zigzag line is embroidered with black woolen thread using the cross-stitch technique. The hem is hemmed and decorated with a double 'prutyk' openwork. Above it, a horizontal stripe (2 cm wide) of geometric pattern (four squares and two slanted lines, rhythmically repeated) is made with bleached hemp thread using the techniques of cutting, satin stitch, and openwork. The connecting seams of the hem (at a height of 6.5 cm) are decorated with a 'worm' stitch made with red and black woolen thread.
