Description
Rushnyk made from white cotton fabric, embroidered in pink, red, brown, blue, lilac, light blue, green, and yellow threads. The rushnyk is decorated at the edges with a stylized floral ornament. Closer to the edge is a floral composition with a large poppy in the center and branches with buds and three cornflowers with leaves extending to both sides. Above is a floral composition of two garlands crossed at the bottom in the center, forming a wreath. The garlands consist of two large poppies with three cornflowers with buds and leaves between them. The rushnyk is finished with 'single prutik' openwork, decorated with yellow thread. Wide handmade lace with a geometric ornament (rhombus motif) with toothed edges is sewn to the edge. One longitudinal edge is hemmed with a machine stitch.
**Provenance:** Embroidered by Hanna Andriivna Matveychuk, who resided in Kharkiv.
