Description
Shirt with a straight silhouette, 'to the hem.' The body and hem are sewn from five panels (body from two 'odynadtsiatka,' hem from three 'desiatka'). The sleeve is straight with a gusset and an insert, sewn along the base, gathered at the bottom into small pleats using the 'sewing to the collar' technique, on a cuff stitched at the top and bottom with double 'stem stitch,' fastened with a buttonhole and a small plastic button, decorated at the top with 'puff stitches' (6 cm long). The sleeve and insert on the back side are sewn with a double 'stem stitch.' The body and inserts are gathered at the neckline into small pleats using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a 24 cm slit in the center front, finished with a narrow band with a single 'stem stitch' at the edges and a broken line between them. The band has buttonholes on both sides. The shirt is decorated with a black and red floral ornament. The insert has a horizontal stripe of eight-petaled flowers with branches and leaves (1.7 cm wide), framed on both sides by a narrow stripe of stylized floral ornament (0.5 cm wide). The upper edge of the sleeve (aligned with the 'puff stitches') has a 0.5 cm wide stripe of the same stylized ornament. The sleeve features a scattered pattern of stylized tulips with stems and leaves. The cuff is decorated with a stripe of five-petaled flowers with branches and leaves, framed by a stylized 'chain' (3.5 cm wide). The cuff side edges are decorated with red threads. The hem is hemmed with a 'single bar,' above which is a 1.5 cm wide openwork stripe with semi-triangles and diagonal lines. Between them is a 0.5 cm wide white-on-white embroidery stripe that echoes the openwork motifs. The connecting seams of the body are decorated at the bottom with blue and red threads (6 cm long). Legend: The shirt was made by Mohlot Varvara Mykhailivna and belonged to her and her daughter Tymchenko S.V., who lived in Kharkiv in 1968 at Hamarnyka Street, 7/9, apt. 5.
