Description

Kersetka of a fitted silhouette, sewn from brown factory-produced fabric. The back is split, with one underarm gusset on each side, widened from the waist downward with five counter-pleats ('mustaches'). The front is widened downward, with the right panel overlapping the left, fastened with three hooks. The right panel is decorated with a serrated appliqué; the waistline on the back is adorned with a figured appliqué decorated with sixteen buttons. The neckline, armholes, right front, and serrated appliqué are edged with a strip of black velvet. The kersetka is decorated at the neckline, armholes, serrated appliqué, right front, hem, and connecting seams with artistic machine stitching. The kersetka is lined with homespun canvas, with some areas retaining embroidery (eight-petal flowers). **Legend:** Belonged to Mariya Ivanivna Derenko, who lived in Kharkiv Oblast, Chuhuiv District, Lebyazhe village.
