Description
Rushnyk made of homespun bleached canvas, embroidered with red and black threads. The ornament is geometric, stylized floral, ornithomorphic, with added textual embroidery. The rushnyk is decorated with a three-tiered embroidered composition alternating with two openwork bands: 1) a wide embroidered band with large roses, buds, leaves, and tendrils; 2) openwork with a 'diamond' pattern and serrated edges; 3) a straight rose branch with leaves and buds; 4) openwork with embroidery of three pairs of doves facing each other and branches between the doves and pairs; 5) rose branches with small flowers, leaves, and buds. Above is a large composition with individual images, centered on a vase with a bouquet of large roses, leaves, tendrils, buds, and small four-petal flowers. On both sides of the vase's stem are pairs of angels with a crown above their heads. Flanking the vase are two pairs of birds. Above the vase is a profile image of a large rooster, flanked by mirrored compositions of the letters 'Н' and 'ХВ' (the latter topped with a crown). Above the rooster is a branch with leaves, flanked by a wreath with the letter 'Н' in the center, closed at the top with a crown. At the top of the embroidery is a large wreath with the letters 'Д.А.П.' and the date '1911.' The edges are finished with 'single prutik' openwork and adorned with machine-stitched serrated lace with a four-petal flower pattern. One side is hand-hemmed.
**Legend:** Part of the collection of the Museum of Sloboda Ukraine named after H.S. Skovoroda.
