Description
Rushnyk made of three fragments of homespun bleached hemp canvas, connected by lace inserts. The rushnyk is embroidered with red and black threads, featuring stylized floral, floral-geometric, and geometric ornaments. The ends feature a six-tiered ornament: 1) a thin line with a downward 'airy' chain with tassels and two alternating branches of different sizes extending upward; 2) a row of eight-petal flowers alternating with 'needle-like' leaves; 3) a winding grapevine with clusters, leaves, and tendrils; 4) three bouquets in a vase, each with one open flower and four buds; 5) a wide band of handwoven lace with a zigzag band, with a floral branch in the recesses and heart-shaped leaves at the peaks; 6) a repetition of the three bouquets in a vase. The edges and fragments near the lace are finished with 'single prutik' openwork. Handwoven lace with a diamond pattern and serrated edges is attached to the ends. All seams are hand-stitched.
