Description
Rushnyk composed of two fragments of homespun bleached canvas, hand-sewn together in the middle, embroidered with red and black threads. The ornament is stylized floral. The ends are decorated with a vertically arranged 'tree in a vase' composition. A long straight stem extends from the vase, topped with a large multi-petal flower, from which a floral branch 'sprouts.' Branches with various flowers, buds, berries, leaves, and tendrils extend from the stem on both sides. The rushnyk is framed on the sides by a wavy floral branch with leaves and tendrils, and at the bottom by a lush wavy branch with various multi-petal flowers, buds, berries, leaves, and tendrils, framed above and below by a 'chain.'
