Description

Rushnyk made of white cotton fabric (calico), embroidered with red and blue threads. The ends are decorated with stylized floral and floral-geometric ornaments arranged vertically: a 'tree of life' in a vase. The vase consists of a trapezoid and a circle, from which a long straight stem extends, topped with a large heart-shaped flower, above which is another branch with three smaller round flowers and leaves. Branches with large round flowers, leaves, and curled tendrils extend from the stem on both sides, along with branches with leaves of various shapes and sizes. The ornament is framed on the sides by a 'gaba' and at the bottom by a 'base.' Between two zigzag bands: the 'base' features a floral ornament with leaves and curled tendrils; the 'gaba' has two star-like 'snowflakes.' The edges are hemmed with wide 'obmetytsia' stitches and decorated with three tassels (one missing on each side). **Legend:** Part of the pre-war collection of the Museum of Sloboda Ukraine named after H.S. Skovoroda.
