Description
Shirt with a straight silhouette, 'body' (to the waist). Sewn from two panels. The sleeve is straight with a gusset and an insert, sewn along the warp, gathered at the bottom into small pleats using the 'sewing to the collar' technique, on a narrow band with a single 'stem stitch,' decorated at the top with four rows of 'puff stitches' (10 cm long). The sleeve and insert on the back side are sewn with a double 'stem stitch.' The body and inserts are gathered at the neckline into small pleats using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is square with a 26 cm slit in the center front, finished with a narrow band with double 'stem stitch' and a loop buttonhole on the right side. The shirt is embroidered with black and red floral and geometric ornaments. The neckline band has a red thread broken line. The insert has a horizontal stripe of roses (Rosa centifolia) at the edges and carnations in the center with leaves and branches (10.5 cm wide). The sleeve features a scattered pattern of ornamental motifs: bouquets of roses (Rosa centifolia) with leaves and branches. Legend: The shirt was purchased during an ethnographic expedition by the Kharkiv Historical Museum in 1959.
