Description
Shirt made of white hemp canvas (body from fine canvas, hem from coarse canvas). 'To the hem' style with a straight silhouette. The body and hem are made from six parts. The sleeve has an insert sewn along the warp, straight, with a gusset, gathered with 'puff stitches,' and gathered at the bottom into a band. The body and inserts are gathered at the neckline. The neckline is square ('kare') with a slit in the center, finished with a narrow band. On the left side of the band is a loop buttonhole, and on the right is a light brown button. The inserts and sleeves are embroidered with black, red, and yellow threads in a floral ornament using the cross-stitch technique. The insert has a wide horizontal pattern stripe of roses (Rosa centifolia) connected by branches and leaves. The rose stripe is framed by borders of small stylized flowers. The sleeve has a narrower horizontal pattern stripe of round flowers in the center. The upper and lower parts of the sleeve feature scattered bouquets of stylized flowers. Legend: The shirt was made by Sheikina Ulyana Fedorivna.
