Description
Shirt of straight silhouette, "to the hem" (the body is sewn from thinner canvas, the hem—from coarser). The body of the shirt is sewn from six panels. The sleeve is straight, with a gusset and cuff, sewn along the weft, gathered at the bottom into fine pleats and finished with a narrow hem. The body and cuff are densely gathered near the neckline using the "sewing to the collar" technique. The neckline is "square" with a slit in the center front 27 cm long, finished with a narrow piping with two loop fasteners at the edges. The shirt is decorated with stylized plant-geometric ornament, embroidered "white on white" using "chicken scratch", "stem stitch", "cutwork" techniques (cuff, sleeve) and hemstitch technique (hem). The cuff and sleeve are decorated with horizontal stripes of ornament. The cuff ornament consists of a broken line with four-petaled half-flowers in the indentations, bordered above and below by straight lines with pyramids of three "windows". The embroidery ornament on the sleeve is composed of rhombus motifs, outlined above and below by even lines with pyramids of three "windows" and double leaves placed at certain intervals. The placket and hem are hemmed with a "single column". The hem is decorated with two horizontal stripes of hemstitch with geometric ornament (crosses, rhombuses), formed by small holes.
