Description
Straight-cut shirt, 'to the hem.' The body of the shirt is sewn from six panels (body from linen canvas, hem from hemp canvas). The sleeve is straight, one-piece, with a gusset, gathered at the bottom and finished with a narrow hem. The upper sleeve and body are densely pleated near the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a 26 cm slit in the center front, bound with a narrow binding with two buttonhole loops at the edges. The shirt is decorated with geometric patterns, embroidered in 'white on white' (shoulder area, hem) and red and blue zappolotch (connecting seams of the sleeve) and plant-geometric patterns, embroidered with white threads (sleeve) and red zappolotch (hem). On the shoulder area of the sleeve, a horizontal strip of ornament is decorated, enclosed on both sides with straight lines with sprouts ('vypysna lyshtva'). On the shoulder, parallel to the shoulder area embroidery, four diagonal crosses are placed ('lyshtva'). The sleeve surface is filled with a vertically arranged composition of zigzag branches with oak leaves at the corners, separated from each other by small branches with the same leaves ('kuryachiy brid,' 'lyshtva,' 'grain stitch'). The hem is sewn with a 'single column' and decorated with a horizontal strip of openwork with a diamond ornament (diamonds with sprouts), formed by small holes ('openwork,' 'lyakhivka'). The connecting seams of the body at the hem are decorated with red branches ('cherv'yachok,' 'cross'). The connecting seams of the sleeve are decorated with zigzag strips, red at the top and blue at the bottom. Legend: Woven, sewn, and embroidered by Hanna Ivanivna Rudenko, who lived at the address: Kharkiv Region, Chuhuiv District, village of Bazaliyivka.
