Description
Straight-cut shirt, 'to the hem.' The body of the shirt is sewn from four panels (body from one linen panel, hem from three hemp panels). The sleeve is straight, one-piece, with a gusset, gathered at the bottom and finished with a 3.7 cm wide cuff. The body and upper sleeve are gathered near the neckline into fine folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a 31 cm slit in the center front, bound with a narrow hem; with a buttonhole loop (right) and a white button (left) at the edges of the hem. The shirt is decorated with geometric patterns, embroidered in 'white on white' with 'lyshtva' and 'kuryachiy brid' techniques (shoulder area), plant-geometric patterns in white, embroidered with 'lyshtva' (sleeve) and 'cutting' (hem), and stylized plant patterns, executed with red and gray zappolotch in 'cross' (cuff, hem). The sleeve at the shoulder area is decorated with a horizontal strip of ornament with the 'toad' motif — a diamond with sprouts and a half-diamond, framed above and below with zigzag strips. The sleeve surface is filled with a vertical ornament on the 'branch' motif — three stems with diagonal branches with leaves. The cuff is embroidered with a horizontally arranged wavy branch with apples and leaves. The cuff edge is decorated with white and red stitched buttonholes. The hem is folded with a 'single column' and decorated with transparent embroidery, the motifs of which echo the embroidery motifs on the shoulder area of the sleeve (diamond with sprouts and half-diamond). Legend: Woven, sewn, and embroidered by Hanna Ivanivna Rudenko, who lived at the address: Kharkiv Region, Chuhuiv District, village of Bazaliyivka.
