Description

Straight-cut shirt, 'to the hem.' The body of the shirt is sewn from six panels. The sleeve is straight, one-piece, with a gusset, gathered at the bottom with 'pukhlyky' and finished with a 2 cm wide cuff. The body and upper sleeve are densely pleated near the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is oval with a 28 cm slit in the center front, bound with a narrow binding with two buttonhole loops at the edges. The slit is fixed at the bottom with a fastener. The shirt is decorated with 'white on white' embroidery of stylized plant patterns, executed with the 'openwork' technique (hem), geometric patterns with 'cutting,' 'lyshtva,' and 'kuryachiy brid' techniques (shoulder area), and 'lyshtva' (cuff), as well as plant-geometric patterns, embroidered with 'lyshtva,' 'kuryachiy brid,' and 'cutting' (sleeve). The sleeve at the shoulder area is decorated with a horizontal strip of embroidery with a diamond ornament — a diamond with an inscribed 'flower' with four transparent 'petals.' This strip of embroidery is framed above and below with straight lines with 'pyramids' of three 'windows.' A broken line with sprouts is laid along the cuff, and the cuff edge is decorated with stitched buttonholes. The sleeve surface is filled with an ornament on the 'branch' motif — a vertical stem and diagonal branches with leaves. The hem is folded with a 'single column' and has a 6 cm wide horizontal strip of openwork with embroidered flowers and leaves. The panels at the hem are joined with a hemstitch seam. Legend: Woven, sewn, and embroidered by Hanna Ivanivna Rudenko, who lived at the address: Kharkiv Region, Chuhuiv District, village of Bazaliyivka.
