Description
Straight-cut shirt, 'to the hem.' The body of the shirt is sewn from six panels. The sleeve is straight, one-piece, with a gusset, gathered at the bottom into fine folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique and finished with a hem. The body and upper sleeve are densely pleated near the neckline using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a 35 cm slit in the center front, bound with a narrow binding with two buttonhole loops at the edges. The slit is fixed at the bottom with a 'fastener.' The shirt is decorated with stylized plant (sleeve) and geometric (shoulder area, hem) patterns, embroidered in 'white on white.' The shoulder area is decorated with a horizontal strip of embroidery with an ornament of diamonds and combs, framed above and below with toothed strips ('lyshtva'). The sleeve surface is filled with a scattering of small four-petal half-flowers in a vase ('lyshtva'). The hem of the sleeve is decorated with white stitched buttonholes ('buttonhole stitch'). The hem is folded with a 'single column' and decorated with a horizontal strip of embroidery, featuring 'transparent' triangles and diamonds ('cutting'), inscribed in diamond half-frames ('lyshtva'). The panels of the body are joined at the hem with 'cherv'yachok.' Legend: Woven, sewn, and embroidered by Hanna Ivanivna Rudenko, who lived at the address: Kharkiv Region, Chuhuiv District, village of Bazaliyivka.
