Description
Straight-cut shirt, 'stanok.' Sewn from two panels of equal width and one narrower panel. The sleeve is straight with a gusset and an inset, sewn along the warp, decorated at the top with 5 cm 'pukhlyky,' at the bottom across the entire sleeve width; finished with a cuff, with a buttonhole loop and a button. The body and inset are gathered near the neckline into fine folds using the 'sewing to the collar' technique. The neckline is round with a 26 cm slit in the center front, bound with a narrow binding with two buttonhole loops at the edges. The shirt is decorated with stylized plant patterns, embroidered with black and red threads (inset, sleeve, cuff): on the lower edge of the inset — a wavy branch with flowers, framed on both sides with toothed strips; on the sleeve — a scattering of six-petal flowers with branches, leaves, and buds; on the cuff — a horizontal strip of floral ornament, framed on both sides with a broken line. All ornaments are executed with 'cross diagonal.' The sleeve, inset, and gusset are joined on the back side with a zigzag seam, executed alternately with black and red threads ('cherv'yachok'). Legend: Found during an ethnographic expedition in the village of Tsybivka, Krasnokutsky District, Kharkiv Region.
